No OBAMA at Mast Academy commencement
Looks like MAST Academy will just have to be happy with its 100 percent graduation rate.
President Barack Obama will not be delivering this year's graduation speech, the White House announced Friday.
The Virginia Key school was effectively voted off the high school island by America during a competition to determine what school would have the graduation speaker of a lifetime for its seniors.
MAST was among six schools nationwide that made the first cut and Obama asked online voters to narrow that number down to three. Unfortunately, MAST's video extolling the virtues of a great education just minutes from the beach didn't sway the 170,000 voters who rated the videos.
Ousted Northerwestern Sr High School principal takes the stand
Dwight Bernard ousted Northwestern Sr High School Principal took the stand in his own DEFENSE today..Bernard told a Miami-Dade jury that he was ordered by members of the Miami-Dade School Board to make sure former star running back Antwain Easterling played in the state football championship game despite his arrest for having sex with an under aged teen on school campus in 2006.
"They said the kid would play after I said no," Bernard said. "They told me he was going to play because they said an arrest did not constitute an admission of any guilt Easterling, who was 18 at the time, was caught in a restroom having sex with a 14-year-old girl just days before the state championship game. Instead of being punished or suspended, Easterling played in the game and helped Northwestern win the state title.
On Thursday University of Miami star quarterback Jacory Harris took the stand on behalf of Bernard The case has already gone to the jury and{We all know what the Northwestern Sr High school home of the BULLS represent to the community of Liberty City}....Good luck !

Prsident Obama delivers the euology
President Barack Obama gave the eulogy Thursday at the funeral of civil rights leader Dorothy Height, he eulogized her as a “drum major for freedom,” describing her as an American icon who tirelessly pursued justice, she had an“unambiguous record of righteous work,” Mr. Obama said at her funeral at Washington National Cathedral. Mr. Obama drew frequent chuckles from the audience with a fondly humorous portrait of the feisty Ms. Height. When you have a nephew who’s 88, you’ve lived a full life,” Mr. Obama said. “We did come to know her during the early days of my campaign, and we came to love her as so many loved her,” the president said. “We loved her stories, and her smile, and those hats.”
He said Ms. Height had been a constant presence at the Obama White House. “She came by not once, not twice,” he said. “Twenty-one times she stopped by the White House.”
On Tuesday, hundreds of people lined three city blocks to pay respects at her viewing at the National Council of Negro Women, an organization that she served as national president for 41 years.
